Volkach is a town in the center of the franconian wine country. Its crooked and cobblestone streets are shaped by half-timber and natural-stone houses, built with lime-stone from former quarries in Volkach. These beautiful houses provide the town with a medieval and romantic look and emphasize the franconian identity of Volkach.
Castles and art treasures bear testimony to the former influence of the Würzburg prince bishops, mighty families and famous artists.
Tilman Riemenschneider, for example, left his marks on the world-famous “Madonna im Rosenkranz” (Madonna of the Rosary). But beneath all the sights, our landscape is breathtaking and unique!
From here you can start your biking tours along the “Mainschleife” or the Main Cycle Path, or undertake trips to Würzburg, Bamberg or Rothenburg.
